M&M/Mars Support Vivisection

Mars Uncovered

Strong relationships are being forged between UK and US research
establishments. According to a report written by Sir G R of Oxford
University and entitled 'International Partnerships of Research
Excellence
- UK-USA Academic Collaboration', a key figure in the US in this
collaboration has been Dr Harold Schmitz, the Technical Director of
Mars
Inc. Mars has also funded research at Oxford University to the tune of
£235,002.74 in 2004/05.

Oxford University is clearly reaping the rewards of these increasing
partnerships. One such partnership is with The Scripps Research
Institute,
which is the largest private research institution in the United States
and
is well known for conducting the most horrific experiments on non-human
animals. For more information click on the link:

Partnerships also exist between the UK Ministry of Defence and the US
Homeland Security, and Oxford University has once again benefited
directly
from these close partnerships. In 2004/05 Oxford University received a
substantial amount of money from the US Military, and, of course, part
of
the money was used to conduct animal-based experiments:

United States Army £339,986.00
United States Department of Defence £142,094.62
United States Air Force £117,152.43
United States Naval Research Laboratory £81,450.79

One of the experiments that was funded by the US Air Force and
published
in 2004 comprised of two rhesus monkeys having metal coils implanted
near
the eyes. The coils were wired up to the eye in order to monitor eye
movement. Let’s not forget that George was also used in eye
experiments.
The two rhesus monkeys
were
then fitted with head restraints and
forcefully restrained in primate chairs. During the experiments the
monkeys were given rewards of water, which would suggest that they were
deprived of water for long periods of time before the experiments took
place in order to make them compliant during the experiment. Of course
the
water reward would only be given if the monkeys did what the
vivisectors
wanted them to do - which almost certainly means the monkeys would have
been severely dehydrated before the experiments took place [1].
Interestingly, the research was conducted by none other than Colin
Blakemore, who has built a career out of blinding kittens. For more on
Blakemore’s fraudulent career click on the link:

Lets also not forget that Mars Inc, who are also known
as
Masterfoods
in
Europe, are a manufacturer of pet foods, such as Bounce, Cesar,
Chappie,
Frolic, James Wellbeloved, Katkins, Kitekat, Pal, Pedigree Chum, Royal
Canin, Sheba, Techni-cal (US & Canada), Whiskas. Pedigree (part of Mars
Inc) also manufactures Thomas rabbit food and Trill bird food. Mars Inc
are also responsible for killing many animals, mainly cats and dogs at
their research centre in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. Non-human
animals
are forced to spend their entire lives as experimental tools, enduring
years of research so that Mars Inc can produce pet foods and make
millions
in profits from sales to consumers who live with and have loving
relationships with animals not unlike those behind the walls of the
Mars
research laboratories.

Mars Inc's best selling confectionary products include: M&M's,
Snickers,
and the Mars bar. Its other products include 3 Musketeers, Dove,
Milky
Way,
Skittles, Twix, and Starburst sweets. They are also the makers of
Combos and Kudos snacks and Uncle Ben's rice.

As part of the 'George Week of Action' why not organise demos against
Mars
Inc premises in your area. Don’t forget, Mars Inc are not only
responsible
for killing animals at their own experimental research centre, but are
also helping to organise greater scientific co-operation between the US
and UK research establishments, which undoubtedly includes animal based
research. Not only that: Mars Inc are also helping to fund research
projects at Oxford University. Whatever way you look at it, Mars Inc
(Masterfoods) have blood on their hands.
